Cheap RAM for Mac

August 25, 2009 | Comments | Geeky he?

Recently I’ve taken the delayed decision to add some RAM to my MacArena (MacBook 13’’/ Generation 5). In the process I discovered that it’s much cheaper to buy memory from a third party supplier than purchasing it from the Apple store.

I personally bought my memory from Crucial (for more options click on Where to buy) and plan to go to Mac 1 for the installation bit. Who knows I might try and do it on my own by checking out the installation guide. Come to think of it, I love MacArena too much to put her in such a great danger.

The next thing after I found that I’ve saved over 100£ was to give some of the money away to organisations that might find it more useful than me. Follow my example and let me know if you need some help with allocating your spare cash, I can recommend some good causes to get involve in.

Keep geekying away, you never know
it might save the world one day!

Neil Postman 1995

Imagine these two operating systems were actual humans. Born in 1984, since then they’ve come a long way. Both had their ups and downs, but they’ve made it! Linux and Mac individually outperformed Mr. Windows. I don’t need to describe his lousy personality. Encountered by all of us in one way or another, we are all familiar with the uninspiring feelings he leaves after using his services.

I’m a Mac. I function and I do it well. I had a bit of a breakdown in the beginning…I was young and I didn’t know how to react to the outside world. However, I made a comeback, a big one. I admit I’m addicted to aesthetics combined with logic and that costs. I need to maintain my perfection and in the current system, unfortunately, that means money.

Linux, ah…that’s another story… I observed him from a distance and how he impressed me, the rebel, my sweet anarchist OS, always working hard, sharing not wasting a second. Almost with no resources beating the filthy rich arrogant Mr. Windows at his own game. A fine example of a possible social model I have a special place in my heart for you, Linux-boy.

Who said romance and software don’t look good together? ;)
